I was talking to my friend Andy today, who said he was struggling to catch fish today. He told me he poured a “Land Shark” in to the Chesapeake Bay to honor my late father Charlie Schline. Charlie “POP” Schline  passed in March last year and he is sorely missed by many people, Andy included.
Pop had the “Little Eagle” in Ocean City Maryland; The boat provided many firsts, for many people. Pop loved that boat and he loved putting smiles on his friends and family with the well known “Little Eagle” and Andy was there for many of those smiles.
I told Andy after his Honoring, I had a funny moment with POP and I told him about a past fishing trip we had last year.
We were fishing a tournament close to Thomas Point light, after Pop’s passing and dad’s name and stories seemed to be the theme of the trip. I looked up, along with my Uncle Jess and we saw an eagle flying around. There it was…the Little Eagle flying high in the sky. We followed that bird until it disappeared. We caught some fish, all attributed to POP, we knew he was there with us. We lost a monster during the tournament, I guess pop wanted that one, but it was just one of those melancholy moments, so I thought.
I told that story to Andy and later received a photo of what Andy saw in the sky. Andy sent me a photo of a strange cloud he saw as a fish…snapped off some pictures and then you guessed it, two lines went down, FISH ON!!!
44 years and I never knew Pop liked “Land Shark” Take it for what you want, but I’ll be bringing “LandShark” on my next trip, Miss you Pop, and thanks Andy for going fishing with Pop today.
