Bill Tucker and I meet at Sam’s Bagels in Catonsville to enjoy a delicious breakfast and talk about whatever comes to mind. One subject was making the steps on my boat trailer safer and easier for me to climb since I broke my leg. When guiding I climb up these steps to board my boat, and vice versa after the trip.
Original Trailer Steps
Bill talked with his friend, Neil Wilford, who has worked with sheet metal and other metals during his career. Bill and Neil came over my house, and Neil came up with a few ideas. He took the measurements he needed to make the improvements.
New Steps and Grab Bar
Yesterday I backed my boat and trailer into the water on the Patapsco River, climbed the new trailer steps and boarded my boat. I then fired the motors up, backed off the trailer, and secured the boat to the dock before my good friend, John Keeler, boarded. We had an extremely good day of pullage. Catching many striped bass along with some white perch (big), using some lures John had made during the winter.
Special Thanks
To Bill Tucker and Neil Wilford for giving me the independance to guide and to go fishing whenever I want again. Words can’t explain my thanks.
